صرح رئيس هيئة الأركان العامة محمــد علي المقدشي إن الجيش الوطني سيظل حريص على الدفاع عن الوطن وأمنه وإستقراره ووحدته ومكتسباته الوطنية ، منطلقين من الواجب الوطني والديني المقدس ولن يكونوا إلا كما يريدهم شعبهم مدافعين عن الدولة اليمنية الإتحادية الفيدرالية القائمة على مخرجات الحوار الوطني والتي هي محل إجماع وطني لكل قوى وشرائح المجتمع “.

وأضاف “أن منتسبي الجيش لن ينجروا إلى حيث يريدهم الأعداء ، وسيظل الولاء كل الولاء لله ثم للوطن والشعب والثورة والقيادة غير متأثرين بأي مؤثرات سلبية من القبلية والمناطقية والمذهبية والسلالية “.
وأوضح في بيان له رفع خلاله التهاني للرئيس بمناسبة الذكرى 26 لتحقيق الوحدة اليمنية أن الجيش يجدد العهد لله والوطن الرئيس أن نقطع اليد التي تحاول النيل من سيادة الوطن أياً كانت .
وقد اثارت تلك التصريحات غضب الحراك الجنوبي المطالب بالانفصال حيث اعتبروا ان البيان موجه إليهم خاصة بتوعد المقدشي بقطع اليد التي تحاول النيل من الوطن او وحدته.

بعظيم الشرف والإمتنان يطيب لي في هذا اليوم التاريخي العظيم وبمناسبة العيد الوطني الــ26 لتحقيق الوحدة اليمنية 22مايو المجيد أرفع لفخامتكم بإسم قادة وضباط وصف وجنود الجيش الوطني ورجال المقاومة وكافة المقاتلين في صفوف الشرعية أحر وأصدق التحايا وأسمى آيات التهاني والتبريكات متمنياً لفخامتكم التوفيق والنجاح في مسئوليتكم التاريخية في قيادة اليمن وتحقيق مشروعه الإتحادي، ونعبر لفخامتكم عن بالغ التقدير لما تقدمونه من دعم لهذه المؤسسة الوطنية وما تولون أبنائها من رعاية وإهتمام …
فخامة الرئيس القائد
ونحن نشارككم وشعبنا هذه المناسبة الوطنية المجيدة يمكنني القول أننا قد تمكنا وخلال عام مضى بعون الله وتوفيقه وبدعمكم وإشراف فخامتكم على فعاليات هذه المؤسسة وبعزائم وهمم أبنائها الأماجد ، ودعم ومساندة دول التحالف وفي مقدمتها المملكة العربية السعودية الشقيقة بقيادة خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود أن تحقق نجاحات كبيرة وأستعادة 80% من أراضي البلاد.
فخامة الرئيس القائد
إن منتسبي الجيش الوطني الذين هبوا مع رجال المقاومة للذود عن الشرعية سيظلون حريصين على الدفاع عن الوطن وأمنه وإستقراره ووحدته ومكتسباته الوطنية ، منطلقين من الواجب الوطني والديني المقدس ولن يكونوا إلا كما يريدهم شعبهم مدافعين عن الدولة اليمنية الإتحادية الفيدرالية القائمة على مخرجات الحوار الوطني والتي هي محل إجماع وطني لكل قوى وشرائح المجتمع ، ولن ينجروا إلى حيث يريدهم الأعداء ، وسيظل الولاء كل الولاء لله ثم للوطن والشعب والثورة والقيادة غير متأثرين بأي مؤثرات سلبية من القبلية والمناطقية والمذهبية والسلالية .
مجددين العهد لله والوطن ولفخامتكم أن نقطع اليد التي تحاول النيل من سيادة الوطن أياً كانت وسنمضي تحت قيادتكم الحكيمة نحو بناء يمن إتحادي خال من الأمراض والأوبئة ، يمن تسوده العدالة والمواطنة المتساوية والحكم الرشيد وسيادة القانون ، وينعم كل أبنائه بالأمن والإستقرار والعيش الحر الكريم .
